SiSiB® PC5880 is an amphiphilic molecule consisting of a long-chain alkyl group (C18H37–) and a polar head group (SiCl3–), which forms Self assembled monolayers (SAMs) on various oxidic substrates.
This chlorosilane is flammable, reacts violently with water, and is sensitive to air. It is corrosive and can severely damage mucous membranes.
Color and Appearance
Colorless clear liquid
As for the use of silanes and silicones, SiSiB® PC5880 can be used as the raw material for SiSiB® PC5881 and SiSiB® PC5882.
SiSiB® PC5880 octadecyltrichlorosilane can be in semiconductor industry to form self-assembled monolayer thin films on silicon dioxide substrates.
SiSiB® PC5880 octadecyltrichlorosilane coating can be used as silane surface modifier for Potassium Titanate Whiskers.
SiSiB® PC5880 is supplied in 20Kg pail or 180Kg steel drum.
In the unopened original container SiSiB® PC5880 octadecyltrichlorosilane has a shelf life of one year in a dry and cool place.
