SiSiB® WR1689 is a solvent-free silane/siloxane water repellent for penetrating treatments on porous building materials like concrete and masonry. It bonds chemically with substrates upon application, creating a durable hydrophobic barrier without altering surface appearance.
Solvent-free, low-VOC compliant base concentrate
Excellent water repellency with contact angles up to 150°
Fast surface beading effect after drying
Strong substrate penetration due to small molecular structure
Chemically bonds with both neutral and alkaline surfaces
UV and weather resistant
Allows water vapor permeability while blocking liquid water
Significantly reduces efflorescence, cracking, and spalling
Suitable for high dilution (5-15×), cost-effective in use
Color and Appearance | Clear or lightly yellow liquid |
Active Content (%) | 100 |
Density (20°C, g/cm3) | 0.90-0.95 |
These values are typical and are not intended for use as specifications.
SiSiB® WR1689 is ideal for:
Concrete roads, bridges, parking decks
Masonry, brick, sandstone, and limestone
Cement fiberboard, calcium silicate board
Other porous mineral substrates exposed to weather
Dilution
Recommended dilution ratio: 1 part WR1689 to 10 parts solvent Suitable solvents include:
D40, D60, 120# solvent oil
Isopar H
C6-C10 alkanes
Aromatic or alcohol solvents as appropriate
Always use dry solvents to avoid premature curing in container
Application
Application methods: brushing, spraying, dipping
Ensure surface is clean, dry (or slightly damp), and free of dust or oil
Apply two uniform coats for optimal penetration
Do not allow treated surface to be exposed to rain before curing
Curing
Allow treated surfaces to dry at ambient temperature
Accelerated curing can be achieved with heat if needed
SiSiB® WR1689 is available in 200Kg drum or 1000Kg IBC.
SiSiB® WR1689 should be stored under dry conditions, away from direct sunlight. In the unopened original container, it has a shelf life of at least 12 months. Longer storage times may cause lumping which normally does not affect the performance of the product.
Storage beyond the date does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer usable. In this case however, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
